In less than two weeks, our new video promoting tobacco-free lifestyles to the LGBT community has received over 50,000 views online and has been featured on over 50 blogs and sites. Have you seen it yet?
This video was developed by Rescue SCG’s Social Change Studio for the CRUSH campaign in Las Vegas. CRUSH is a tobacco control program funded by the Southern Nevada Health District that is designed to specifically reach the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) population. CRUSH uses community events, bar/nightclub nights, direct mail, trained brand ambassadors, a messaging-focused clothing line, and social media to reach the LGBT population.
This video was developed as part of CRUSH’s social media strategy to bring awareness to tobacco use as an LGBT issue. Rescue SCG uses a viral video strategy to both spread a specific video and to drive traffic to CRUSH’s explanatory video on its YouTube page. Since the “About CRUSH” video is the featured video on the channel, 2% of all viewers of other videos choose to watch this 2-minute video, which has provided over 8,000 viewers with a comprehensive overview of how smoking affects the LGBT population.
Together, social media and the other CRUSH efforts are part of a Social Branding model to reduce tobacco use in the LGBT population in Southern Nevada. Make sure to share the video with your friends and social networks. We appreciate your support.
